Note: For reasons unknown, the simulator places Houston as 2nd in the Central and Michigan 3rd, but in the playoff seeding Michigan is given the 2nd seed (with bye) and Houston is the 5th seed below Oakland. This is not something I can control, so for the sake of matching the simulator, we need to imagine that Houston is ranked below Michigan and therefore gets the 5th seed. It makes no sense to me, because Houston clearly has the better division record, but that is what the game wanted to do.
