USFL HALL OF FAME

In 1992, after the USFL's 10th season, the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio and the USFL agreed on an expansion of the Hall to create a new USFL Hall of Fame within the same facility that for decades had celebrated the careers of NFL players and coaches.  Beginning in 1995 the USFL would begin to enshrine players, coaches and executives who had helped build the spring league.  Players who retired in 1990 or earlier would be enshrined in the first class and then each subsequent year the eligiblity would move to '91, '92, etc.  Each year the list of USFL players, coaches, and executives grows and the Hall becomes truly a celebration of not only NFL legends, but the new legends of the spring with the USFL

CLASS OF 1995

CLASS OF 2004

A rare year in which the incoming class of eligible candidates is so strong that no repeat nominees were selected and all five new nominees are first ballot hall of famer.  But with this lineup, that is certainly understood.  We have one of the most decorated quarterbacks in league history, the Minister of Defense, a 3-time league rushing leader, an elite tight end, and a widout who "only catches touchdowns".  A worthy group of first ballot entrants if ever we saw one.

QB Jim Kelly                        Houston Gamblers (1984-1996*)

DE Reggie White                 Memphis Showbaots (1984-1999)

                                             Philadelphia Stars (1994-1999)

*Kelly stepped away from the game in 1996, but did not officially file for

retirement until 1999, thus the delay in his nomination.

Memphis's Reggie White

CLASS OF 2005

Two first ballot nominees (Greene & Givens) join three repeat nominees in the Class of 2005.  This year's class was headlined by one of the greatest receivers in USFL history, Ernest Givens of the Stallions, a wrecking ball of a linebacker in Kevin Greene, the first Jacskonville Bull (Johnson), one half of Washington's deadly DE duo, and the rock that kept Stallion QB's safely upright for a decade, Emory Yates.

CLASS OF 2014

The Hall of Fame voters could not have had any fun working on the Class of 2014. With one of the most illustrious slates of semi-finalists ever seen, the committee struggled to remove names from the list of worthy finalists and enshrinees.  In they end, they did limit it to the mandatory maximum of 2, but we fully expect some members of the semifinalist class of 2014 to become finalists in the next few years.  The group was just too good not to add more.
