Must be something about summer, but the Blazers, Sun, and Fire are all matching the sweltering heat of the season. All three earn big wins this week, as do the Stars, who nab their 2nd road win in Houston.

Just days after losing their Jacksonville opener in front of a very nice crowd, the Blazers got more bad news as it seems the State of Florida has some questions for co-owner Frank Monaco. New York continues to struggle on the field and with attendance, while Birmingham and Memphis put on a show in front of more than 50,000 in the biggest single game turnout of the young season.

Southern Cal uses another comeback to remain unbeaten. The Hawaiians get their first win of the year, and the Texans make their San Antonio debut. All that, plus a story on the struggles the Stars face in New York as the WFL's inaugural season starts its 2nd month of action.

Week 4 sees the last of the unbeatens mount a late comeback to go 4-0, the New Yorks Stars stun the Americans in Birmingham, and both the Portland Storm and the Hawaiians struggle again at home, both dropping to 0-4.

The World Football League's second week of action will be remembered for two things, teams running the ball seeminly at will, and the absolute debacle of the Thursday night game at New York's Downing Stadium, a game that started off as a national broadcast and ended as a national punchline. The WFL has a serious issue with their New York team and its disaster of a facility, and it may well have a problem with its defenses, as it seems none of them could defend the run this week, with 8 different backs going over 100 yards, including a 190-yard performance from Jim Nance of the Texans, 176 from Portland's Rufus Ferguson, 150 from Jim Kiick of Memphis, and another duo of backs over 100 as both Tommy Reamon and Perry Williams topped the century mark against the Stars. We will start our coverage with reporting out of New York, yes, the game result, but more importantly, the night the lights came on, but to no avail for the Stars.
